White Fillings

White fillings or tooth-colored fillings are recommended to repair teeth where the damage from decay or trauma is located in an area that would show prominently when a person smiles or speaks. The finished filling appears smooth and natural and blends well with the adjacent tooth structure.

These filings are commonly bonded to the natural tooth structure. Many different shades are available to match variations in tooth color.

Tooth-colored fillings typically last for five to twelve years, depending on where the filling is placed. Fillings placed in back teeth where biting forces are heavy do not last as long as fillings placed where no stress is placed on the filling.
